why this site has margin notes

2026-07-04#meta#site

Every portfolio says the same three things: I build things, I love clean code, here is my LinkedIn. All true, all forgettable.

The parts people actually remember are the asides — the "this took three rewrites", the "ask me about this bug". That's the stuff you'd say if you were walking someone through your work in person. So instead of hiding it, this site puts it where it belongs: in the margins, in handwriting, next to the professional version of events.

the rules

  • The main column stays clean. A recruiter skimming for 30 seconds never trips over a joke.
  • The margins are honest. If a project fought back, the note says so.
  • Nothing in the margin is required reading. It's commentary, not content.

That's the whole idea. These notes are where longer thoughts go when a margin isn't big enough.
